Students have made a fantastic start to term 3. It is wonderful to see behaviour that clearly demonstrates the ‘Lilydale Way’, with students acting safely, respectfully and showing focus with their learning. We are looking forward to an exciting and productive term!
7-8 Renovations
Our 7-8 classrooms underwent major renovations over the holidays. Our support staff put in a huge effort before students returned to have these spaces ready to go and our students are now enjoying their fresh and modern learning spaces.

Whole School Assembly
We will celebrate application to learning, academic excellence and sporting success at our whole school assembly on Thursday, 24 July at 9:15am in the Gym. This is an opportunity to showcase students who have achieved very high marks in mid-year reports for work habits in the areas of effort, attitude and behaviour and students who have achieved exceptional ratings in core subjects in the Australian Curriculum Framework.
MND Big Freeze
On the last Thursday of term 2, Lilydale participated in the Big Freeze, raising funds for MND. We raised a total of $750.55 and got to dunk Mr Brown and Mrs Hay, as well as the Student Leaders. Well done to Mr Brown, Ms Howell, Mrs Denehy and the Student Leaders for their organisation of the event and a big thank you to everyone who donated to this important cause.
Mobile Phones
We would like to thank parents and carers who have helped reinforce the message with their children that phones need to be ‘Off and Away All Day’ at school. Your support helps us to maintain a focused, respectful and positive environment for all students where learning and opportunities for genuine social interactions are encouraged. If you have an urgent message for your child during school hours, please contact the school office and staff will pass the message on.
Warm regards,
Alana Lava
Assistant Principal
A fun-filled promotion that brings excitement, laughter, and a little extra learning straight to your classroom!
From July 7th to August 6th, students, teachers, and parents can nominate their school or classroom online to be visited by two very special “students” — Adam & Nic — who are heading Back to School and looking for classrooms to join!
Principal's Award - K-6 Assembly
At the end of Term 2's K-6 Assembly, Archer Howard-Pike was the proud recipient of The Principal's Award for "His improved commitment to being a learner".
Way to go, Archer - Congratulations!
Year 5-6B have been researching countries, comparing some Asian countries to Australia. Facts like population, currency, language, traditional food etc.
The Year 3-4's have been learning about the properties of solids, liquids and gases. In these photos students are using a solid (bicarb soda) to create a gas CO2 (carbon dioxide) by adding a liquid (vinegar). We have also learnt that a solid keeps its shape. Liquids and gases take the shape of a container.
The Year 10 cohort has launched into the school year with impressive positivity and participation across a wide range of activities. From exploring future pathways at the Newstead and Launceston College open days to polishing their professional skills through the Beacon Polish Program, students have shown great initiative and engagement.
Athletics and Cross-Country events saw strong representation and spirited performances, with many students pushing themselves and cheering on their peers.
Looking ahead, excitement is building for the GRIPP excursion to Bell Bay, the Launceston College production and upcoming Year 11 enrolments. These opportunities mark important steps in the students’ educational journeys, and it’s fantastic to see them approaching each milestone with confidence and enthusiasm.
Well done, Year 10! Keep up the great work!
High School – Student of the Week
Every week, all staff, Student Leaders and the wider community have the opportunity to nominate a high school student as a ‘Lilydale Legend’. These nominations acknowledge when another person has noticed the student demonstrating our school values of being safe, respectful and learning. Our school will be participating in a trial of a new tool called the Preschool Outcomes Measure. This tool is designed to help teachers better understand a child’s learning and development in kindergarten. It focuses on a child’s language and problem-solving skills.
The trial is part of a National Applied Trial being conducted in schools across all states and territories, aimed at improving educational outcomes for children in the year before full-time school.
Only some kindergarten children may be invited to take part in the trial. If chosen, your child will participate in a range of familiar classroom activities as part of the process.
If you do not wish for your child to be included in the National Applied Trial, please return the ‘Opt-out form’ to your child’s teacher by Friday 15 August. If our school does not receive this form from you by this date, your child may be included in the trial.
To find out more about the Preschool Outcomes Measure and the National Applied Trial, please read the fact sheet below, or ask your child’s teacher.
