Reporting and Parent Interviews – Term 2
At Lilydale District School, we report on student progress using the Australian Curriculum for Prep to Year 10 when appropriate. Our teachers assess student learning in each subject area and report against the achievement standards for each year level when it can be matched.
The reports provide a snapshot of how students are progressing, where they are confident and where they continue need to continue to develop. We also assess their learning behaviours which include effort, behaviour and attitude.
Our teachers use a range of evidence to support them in writing reports including their classwork observations, assessments, and discussions with students. The reports that our parents receive help us to communicate clearly with families about learning, growth, and goals moving forward.
Parent/teacher interview appointments will open online from Monday, 16 June and will close on Thursday, 26 June. More information will be sent home soon about how to make an appointment.
Reports will be sent home on Thursday, 26 June.
Parent/teacher interviews will run from Monday, 30 June to Thursday,3 July.
- Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3.15pm to 4.30pm.
- Tuesday from 3.15pm to 6.30pm.
We hope that every parent at our school is able to attend a parent/teacher interview to discuss your child’s learning.
Please contact me if you would like to chat about this further.
School Photos
During Term 1, our students had their school photos taken celebrating being a part of our Lilydale District School Community. Student from Kindergarten to Year 10 wore their school uniform, were respectful and showed patience throughout the day.
I have had a brief look at the photos this afternoon and I hope that you see them as more than just a snapshot. They are reminders of friendships, challenges, and the small steps that happens every day at our school. As the year progresses, every face tells a story, and these faces share so many.
I would like to sincerely thank our families for ensuring our students came prepared in full school uniform, ready for their ‘shots’ to be taken. When all students wear their uniform we know they support the Lilydale ‘team’.
I would also like to thank our amazing staff, ensuring the day ran smoothly and to our students who demonstrated our value of being respectful, especially when waiting for your photo turn.
Thank you for your respect and patience during our photo day.
Warm Regards,
Karen Hay
Principal
In Geography, Year 2 students have been learning about how people are connected to places.
We read 'Sea Country,' by Aunty Patsy Cameron and illustrated by Lisa Kennedy. This story is set on Flinders Island.
We painted pictures and wrote about the ways that Aboriginal people are connected with this special place.
Our talented Year 9 Catering students showcased their culinary skills last week as they prepared a delicious spread for the Year 10 Beacon Foundation Day. On the menu were beautifully presented fruit platters, freshly made sandwiches, choc chip cookies, caramel slice, and mouth-watering sausage rolls – all made from scratch! A big thank you to Ms Naning, our wonderful kitchen assistant, whose guidance and support helped make the day a tasty success.

Our Year 5-6 students have been getting their hands dirty and embracing the cooler months by preparing the garden for winter. They've also been enjoying regular visits to the school farm, where they've had the opportunity to pat the cattle and observe the VET students in action as they care for and work with the animals. It’s been a fantastic way for students to connect with nature and learn more about animal care and agriculture in a hands-on environment.

On Wednesday, 28May, we took 36 runners from Years 3 to 6 to Beaconsfield Primary School for the TPSSA Cross Country Carnival. It was a cool, but sunny day which proved perfect for running. We had some great results, with 12 runners placing in the top 10, and have been invited to the Tasmanian All School Cross Country at Symmons Plains, on Tuesday, 17June. A special mention to Flynn and Fletcher who finished first in their races, Mackenzie who finished second and Eriana, who placed third.

High School – Student of the Week
Every week, all staff, Student Leaders and the wider community have the opportunity to nominate a high school student as a ‘Lilydale Legend’. These nominations acknowledge when another person has noticed the student demonstrating our school values of being safe, respectful and learning. If a student is nominated by multiple people their name will appear twice. Lilydale Legends for the week will get recognised in our high school assembly and receive a certificate. Congratulations to the Lilydale Legends for Week 5 - Term 2.
