NE Cup Football
Another season of NE Cup is over for our football team. Whilst we did not have many wins this season we were competitive throughout just losing quite a few games by under 2 goals. During term 2 our best player was Broady, Jonty best team player and Gibson won the encouragement award.
For term 3 Jonty won best player, Brock won best team player and Joshua won the encouragement award.
We had a core group of key players who were in our best every game. This included Dominic, Liam, Arthur, Joss, Jonty and Broady.
It was pleasing to note the improvement and effort from our younger players, eg. Joshua, Jake, Seth and Brock. We are looking forward to coaching our new look team in the NE Cup in 2022.

NE Cup Netball
What a year for netball! We had 4 teams in the NE Cup this year, all at various levels. Our 3 Div 3 teams participated well each time and always gave it their best and learnt many new skills throughout the season. These 3 teams always laughed and enjoyed their games, encouraged and supported each other.
Our Div 2 team followed in the footsteps of last years amazing team and were undefeated all year! They girls displayed great sportsmanship and teamwork during each game. As our Year 10’s took to the court for the final time representing Lilydale they did it in a spectacular way- they came together in the second half and fought back to win their last ever game by 1 goal!
Well done to all girls, and to our Year 10’s thank you for your efforts in representing Lilydale District School over the last 4 years in netball at the NE Cup.

NE Cup Soccer
It was another fantastic season for our two North East Cup soccer teams this year. With the return of our coaches Mr Uko and Mr Robertson, we had a very competitive season, notching quite a number of wins. More importantly though, the effort and determination demonstrated by all of our players was absolutely phenomenal.
This year, we saw a number of the year 8 students step into leadership positions. Joe and Jack both commanded very competitive teams within each meet. A core group of Kobe, Steve, Kye, Jamie, Cody, Lachie, Kiara and Amalia were consistently going above and beyond to ensure that our teams were ready to go on the day.
Everybody involved showed tremendous sportsmanship, school spirit and always tried their best whenever competing on the field. They also showed great respect to the teachers and other students involved in the four days. With all of our soccer players showing great improvement both individually and collectively within their teams, us coaches are already looking forward to a successful 2022 North East Cup!
Recreation
The 7-8 Recreation class is now in full swing. The class this term has gone to Ten Pin Bowling, Skate and Sport and Airtime 360. Next term we may go to the Golf Driving Range, Laser Tag and Rock Climbing. Students have been very positive and enjoyed their excursions.
At school students have been doing ‘Sport Education’ where they run a roster for a couple of weeks, this includes a ladder, leading goal scorers and best player totals. So far, we have down netball and basketball. I am looking forward to the remainder of the year as students develop their team skills and experience recreation areas in Launceston.
