Principal's Report
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we come to the end of what has been a busy and rewarding term, I want to take a moment to reflect on some of the highlights and share my appreciation for the wonderful community I’m now so proud to be part of.
This term has been full of memorable moments, beginning with our whole-school Athletics Carnival. It was a fantastic two days where our students showcased their athletic skills, determination, and school spirit. More importantly, they supported one another with kindness and encouragement, which truly captured the heart of who we are at Lilydale.
We proudly took 16 students to the NHSSA Swimming Carnival. Their efforts in and out of the pool were incredible, and their behaviour was exemplary. We were absolutely thrilled to come away with three shields—a testament to their hard work and teamwork. It was a standout moment for the term.
Our students also represented Lilydale at the TPSSSA Athletics Carnival, again showing courage, perseverance, and support for their peers. These events are not just about competition—they’re about showing respect, staying safe, and learning how to be our best selves, all of which were clearly on display.
One of the most enjoyable additions this term has been our chess lessons, which have sparked lots of interest across the school. Students have been developing their strategic thinking, patience, and focus—skills that support learning in many areas. It’s been heartening to see the way students of all ages have embraced this new challenge with enthusiasm and respect.
Throughout the term, I’ve been constantly reminded of our school mantra - At Lilydale, we are our best when we are Safe, Respectful, and Learning. I see this in the way students interact with each other, take care of school property and approach their learning with curiosity and effort.
We are proud of our dedicated and passionate teachers. Every day, they go above and beyond to create a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment for all students. Their commitment to helping each child succeed is clear in the care they show, the creative lessons they design, and the strong relationships they build with students and families. Our teachers are the heart of our school, working together to support one another and to bring out the best in every learner.
On a personal note, I want to thank all of our students for the way they’ve welcomed me into the school. Their warmth, good humour, and willingness to engage with me have made my start as Principal a truly great one. Whether it's a smile in the corridor, a thoughtful question, or a story they’re excited to share, I’ve felt nothing but kindness and respect.
To our families, thank you for your continued support and partnership. We are incredibly lucky to have such a strong and connected school community.
Wishing you all a safe, restful and happy holiday. I look forward to seeing everyone back next term for more learning, growth, and fun.
Warm Regards,
Karen Hay
