LiFT (Learning in Families Together) News
Our new LiFT space is almost complete. What do you think of the changes? We hope you like them as much as the students. This space will become a multi-use space for both students and families.
The new space is going to be utilised in a new way on a Monday afternoons. Students from Prep to Year 2, along with leaders, volunteers and staff, will provide and support with playing games. These games can be adapted by teachers for learning other skills, such as reading and maths.
The ideas behind these games are to teach basic skills such as:
- Taking turns
- Sharing/dealing out cards
- Winning and losing
- Communication
- Following rules
- How and who starts the game
- Having fun
Our 5-6 Peer Leaders are also part of this team and during these sessions will be:
- Developing leadership skills
- Developing communication skills
- Becoming positive role models
- Having fun
During the term students will become familiar and confident playing these games and the aim is to share some of the skills they have learnt with their families at home.
If you would like to volunteer some of your time in the LiFT space, please contact the school office on 6395 0100 or speak directly to Janina Gilmartin.
Keep an eye out! There is more to come.
We look forward to sharing the learning through fun with you.
