LIFT - Learning In Families Together
Hi, my name is Janina Gilmartin and I am the Learning in Families Together (LIFT) coordinator for Lilydale school.
Learning in Families Together (LIFT) is a new initiative that will build your confidence and skills to support your children's literacy and numeracy learning at home. It will encourage collaboration between home, school and the community to help lift the literacy and numeracy learning outcomes for all children.
This program is new to our school and we would love you to become involved! This might look like:
- Learning how to support your child/ren with literacy and numeracy through playing specific games and reading regularly with your child/ren
- Becoming a volunteer and helping in the classroom setting, in a small group or in the new LIFT space
- Supporting students in learning a specialty skill in an area of your own strength and interest, e.g. music, games, gardening, art etc.
- Coming in to, ‘be the expert’ and share your knowledge with a specific class or small group of interested participants.
If you are interested in being a part of one or more of the things listed above, then please contact me via the school office on: 6395 0100 and ask for Janina Gilmartin.
Working with Vulnerable People
We would really love some more volunteers. All volunteers in the school need to have a ‘Working with Vulnerable People’ check completed. I am happy to support anyone wanting to complete their ‘Working with Vulnerable People Check’.
Once completed, the check is valid for 3 years and can be used in a range of volunteer settings. The cost for 3 years is $19.44.
If you feel confident in completing this by yourself then copy the link below, where you can complete the process.
Apply for registration to work with vulnerable people (cbos.tas.gov.au)
We are specifically looking for volunteers to play games or read with children in the LIFT space on a Monday morning (8:40-9:00am and 2:30-3:00pm.
